Race Report-Round1 & Round2 Donington National 29th March 2015

The Mansbridge Racing team was optimistic heading into round one of the MR2 championship.
After a successful shakedown with engine tuner Hurley Race Enginneering, the Power Maxed & Demon Tweeks sponsored car hoped for good dry running heading into qualifying.
However, as wind and rain drenched the circuit over the weekend, the conditions were difficult. The well known twitchy oversteer in the wet was ever present and Shane was dissappointed at not being able to get a full fast lap together, both handling and other drivers hindering progress, however 13th fastest of 36 entrants was achieved, so we were quietly optimistic for the races.

Race One started in very wet conditions, rain streaming and spray meant conditions were even more difficult. On lap four dissaster struck, oversteer under Starkeys Bridge caught Shane out and a spin was inevitable. Having recovered and losing several places, Shane passed a few backmarkers but pushed too hard yet again and had several other issues, losing the places regained. A very frustrated Shane took the chequered flag in 28th.

Race Two conditions had improved dramatically, but with qualifying order being based on race ones fastest times, this had us starting in a lowly 21st on the grid. As the race got underway it was clear that the drying conditions suited Shanes driving and the car handled better, giving us the ideal oppourtunity for a fun race on way to 12th at the chequered flag.

Overall the results were dissapointing for Rounds 1 & 2, but we are still optimistic of the cars potential and driving progress of Shane, believing more top10 finishes are just around the corner. See you all at Brands Hatch on 26th April 2015.
