After a bitterly disappointing opening two races of the MR2 Championship, we had done everything we could during the break to replace any parts which seemed to contribute to our overheating woes at Donington Park.

Thankfully the Hurley powerplant wasn't affected by our previous issues and felt as strong as ever. So despite the early morning rain, we had our positive attitudes back and we were glad to receive a bit of luck. The MR2 series was over subscribed for Brands Hatch, so drivers at the bottom of the championship were chosen to qualify with the Civic series. This allowed more room for a fast lap and a drying track, resulting in Pole position for both MR2 races!

Despite the advantage given, we had good balance & speed in the car and going into the races we felt we had a good chance of staying at the front.

Race 2 was our first session, which started with Shane holding the lead for near 2 laps, until a slight slide, allowed Jim Davies to get through on the inside, with Shaun Traynor following through. A red flag was then brought out, resulting in a restart. At the restart Shane got a better start and managed to draw alongside Traynor into the first corner, taking back second place. A great race then ensued, door to door with Traynor and Lewis Ward for several laps before Traynor and Lewis managed to get past, with Shane managing to defend for the last few laps against Stuart Nichols.

Race 3 starting with a poor getaway, allowing Graham Malings to take the lead into Paddock Hill Bend. With at least five cars battling behind , Jim Davies managed to get past Malings and creep into the distance. Shane was battling hard with Graham Malings, Stuart Nichols, Paul Cook, Nigel Ralphson and Cam Walton, still running in fifth place! Unfortunately a slight error going into paddock hill bend resulted in a trip into the gravel. The annoyance is clearly shown in the video!

So a 4th and a DNF at Brands Hatch was a good result, showing we can keep up with most of the fast boys and now looking forward to the rest of the season. Great racing guys!

Having decided not to enter the next event at Croft, we will next be out at Snetterton!
